Zombie Survival — Privacy Policy
// effective: 2026-08-23
Scope
This policy covers the Zombie Survival game published by PickBits Studio, both as played at zombiesurvival.pickbits.ai and as the Android app distributed through Google Play. Account creation and account-level data are governed by the main PickBits privacy policy.
The two versions behave differently, and this policy says which is which. Where a section is marked (web only) or (Android app only), it does not apply to the other.
Playing without an account
No sign-in is required. Anonymous play stores progress in your browser's local storage only; nothing is transmitted to us.
The Android app (Android app only)
The Google Play version is a self-contained, offline-capable build. It differs from the web version in ways that matter for your privacy:
- There is no sign-in. PickBits accounts are not available in the app, so there are no cloud saves, achievements, or leaderboards. All progress is stored on your device and is lost if you uninstall.
- No analytics and no crash reporting. The Google Analytics, PostHog, and Sentry components described below are removed from the app at build time and never run in it.
- It shows ads, and that is the one thing the app does send off your device. See Advertising below.
- It is single-player only. The co-operative multiplayer mode is compiled out, so the app makes no connection to our game servers.
Playing with a PickBits account (web only)
If you sign in (single sign-on via pickbits.ai, powered by the PickBits Arcade SDK), the game stores against your account:
- Cloud saves (game progress and settings)
- Achievements you unlock
- Leaderboard scores (displayed with your chosen display name)
This data lives in our database (Supabase, with row-level security) and, for large save files, object storage. It is used only to provide the features above.
Advertising (Android app only)
The Android app is free and is funded by advertising supplied by Google AdMob. Two kinds of ad appear:
- Interstitial ads — a full-screen ad shown occasionally between runs.
- Rewarded ads — always optional, and only ever shown because you chose to watch one in exchange for something in the game (reviving after death, or a free weapon roll). Declining costs you nothing but the reward.
To serve these, Google receives your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier), your IP address, and coarse device and app information. Google may use this to show you personalised advertising and to measure ad performance. Google acts as an independent controller of that data; its handling is governed by the Google Ads data terms and the Google privacy & terms for partner sites. We do not receive the advertising ID ourselves, and we never send Google your name, email, or game progress.
Your choices. If you are in the EEA, the UK, or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before requesting personalised ads, using Google's User Messaging Platform; you can decline and still play, and you will see non-personalised ads instead. You can change that choice at any time with the Privacy options button on the game's title screen — it appears only where a consent choice applies, so you will not see it in regions where the form was never shown. On any Android device you can reset or delete your advertising ID at any time in Settings → Privacy → Ads, which limits ad personalisation system-wide. And you can remove ads entirely — see Purchases.
Purchases (Android app only)
The app offers a single one-time in-app purchase, Remove Ads, which permanently disables interstitial advertising for that Google account. Optional rewarded ads remain available afterwards if you want the in-game rewards they give.
Payment is processed entirely by Google Play Billing. We never see or store your card number, billing address, or any other payment detail. The purchase is held by Google against your Google account, and the app checks with Google Play on your device to see whether you own it — so the same purchase is restored automatically when you reinstall or move to a new device. No third-party purchase service is involved, and we receive no personal information about you from the transaction.
Refunds are handled under Google Play's refund policy. If a purchase does not restore correctly, email owner@pickbits.ai.
Diagnostics & analytics (web only)
These services run in the browser version only; they are stripped from the Android app at build time. Zombie Survival loads the following third-party services in your browser while you play:
- Sentry — crash and error reports. If the game throws an error, a report containing the error message, a stack trace, the page URL, and your browser and operating system version is sent so we can fix it.
- Google Analytics and PostHog — anonymous usage analytics. Records which screens and features are used, plus coarse technical details (browser, device type, approximate region derived from IP). Not used to build an advertising profile.
These services see your IP address as part of any ordinary web request. We do not send them your name, email, or game save data, and we do not sell or share what they collect. Blocking them with a browser content blocker or “do not track” extension does not affect gameplay.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it with data brokers
- No advertising of any kind on the web version
- In the Android app, the only data shared with an advertising partner is what Google AdMob collects to serve ads, described above — we do not pass it your name, email, or game progress, and we do not build an advertising profile of you ourselves
- No access to contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location on either platform
Retention & deletion
Game data is retained while your account is active. Email owner@pickbits.ai to delete your game data or your entire account; deletion removes cloud saves, achievements, and leaderboard entries.
(Android app) The app stores your progress only on your device; uninstalling it deletes that data. There is no account to delete. Your Remove Ads purchase is held by Google Play against your Google account, not by us, so it survives an uninstall and can be restored.
Children
Our games are general-audience and not directed at children under 13. Zombie Survival depicts cartoon-styled combat against zombies and is not targeted at children; it is not enrolled in Google Play's Designed for Families programme, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Account sign-up is handled by pickbits.ai and is not offered to children under 13.
Changes
If this game's data-handling behavior changes, we will update this policy and the effective date above.
